When Confidence Doesn't Return on Its Own
Not every ACL story ends the way the first one begins. For Tristan, a casual exercise enthusiast, the second ACL reconstruction hit differently than the first. Physically, the surgery had gone well. Rebuilding, One Tested Block at a Time
From there, the program followed ULTRA lab's approach — work on what you lack, not what you assume. Progressive loading targeted the specific asymmetries the testing flagged, with re-testing built in at set intervals rather than relying on time-based "you should be ready by now" thinking.
By the 1st cycle, the shift was already measurable: strength asymmetry falling, the hamstring:quad ratio climbing, and landing control tightening up. He was starting to jump with confidence again — not because he'd been told to, but because the data showed his body could handle it.
By 2nd cycle, both limbs were producing comparable force output, the strength ratio had moved further into healthy range, and jump height and landing symmetry had both improved. The knee that once needed protecting was now performing alongside the other.
